This year at the 2021 Aquafutures Conference, our focus will be towards what is most important to aquatic facilities and centres. Below is some of what we will be focusing on during our sessions over both days of the conference.

CONFERENCE LOCATIONS AND DATES

Cairns (Mareeba): Mareeba Leagues Club
Thursday 12 & Friday 13 August 2021

Mackay: Souths Suburban Bowls Club
Friday 20 & Saturday 21 August 2021

Gold Coast (Palm Beach): Palm Beach Currumbin Sport Club
Thursday 2 & Friday 3 September 2021

First Response following an incident – During this session we will be having a speaker from one of the local Ambulance stations to explain what can make the process after an incident from when the call to 000 has happened and while paramedics are on the scene, within both an aquatic centre and an aquatic location (lake, ocean, dam, river etc.).

Chemicals and their proper storage – Since the beginning of 2021, there have been a number of serious incidents involving the storage and handling of chemicals at aquatic facilities. The explosion of hazardous substances, which virtually destroyed the harbour in Beirut in August 2020, is enough warning for pool operators who handle similar dangerous substances. This session provides some guidance for operators who handle dangerous swimming pool chemicals.

Aquatic Facility Safety Inspections – Facility Safety Audits and Safety Improvement Plans provide the pool operator with an analysis of how the facility complies with any rules and regulations including, Australian Standards, Acts of Government and Industry Guidelines. These rules and regulations are constantly changing and a third-party audit provides up to date information regarding operator exposure to risk, and potential litigation.
